Alltel completes purchase of Mississippi wireless properties

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Alltel announced today it has completed the purchase of wireless properties in southern Mississippi from Cellular XL Associates, a privately held company based in Hattiesburg.
Terms were not disclosed.
Alltel is adding about 50,000 customers in a 12-county area. The area, which includes the cities of Hattiesburg, Laurel and Picayune, has a population of approximately 360,000.
Alltel, with more than 12 million communications customers and nearly $8 billion in annual revenues, is a leader in the communications and information services industries. Alltel has communications customers in 26 states and provides information services to telecommunications, financial and mortgage clients in more than 50 countries.
