Attention Alltel Business Customers:
As a result of going private, our Tax ID number has changed for income tax purposes.

 


Our new Federal Tax ID Number is 34-0868285.

  • The IRS recognizes this FEIN as a correct number for any Alltel Corporation entity;
  • Alltel now owns and operates former Alltel Communications, Inc, Western Wireless and Cellular One companies. This number is appropriate for those businesses, as well.

Please update your income tax information accordingly. Download Alltel's 2009 W-9 form (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) to replace your current Alltel W-9 form. There will be no changes to your Alltel wireless service.

 

Why do you need a W-9?

Generally, you may be required to report to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) any payments made during the course of your trade or business that exceed $600 (or $5,000 in the case of direct sales of consumer products in certain circumstances) on a Form 1099.   If you are engaged in a trade or business, then you must obtain a W-9 form from Alltel.  Alltel’s W-9 form is used to (1) certify Alltel’s proper tax identification number and (2) certify to you that Alltel is a corporation that is exempt from any back-up withholding.  Except in very limited circumstances, you will not be required to supply Alltel with a Form 1099 for payments you make to Alltel as long as you have this W-9 form on file.  (See www.irs.gov for further information about Form W-9 and Forms 1099.)
